Artist Statement

My whole idea was to play with the outward versus inward appearances. The idea of a connection point between what is underneath versus what is presented/seen. In the real sense, if you stripped down the layers of appearance, you would find muscle, bones, tissue, and I wanted to express in my artwork the connection between these hidden layers to the outward appearance. I want people to feel when they look at my artwork a sense of realness and brightness around something that is usually isn’t seen; bones being visible and seen as much as the outward appearance.  I wanted to express the relationship between the inward and outward appearances, through the exploration of symmetry and shapes in different mediums.
